Why Gender, Equity and Social Justice?
Fostering Inclusive Communities for Lasting Change
The challenges of gender equity and social justice remain pressing issues worldwide, particularly in developing countries. According to the United Nations, approximately 1 in 3 women globally has experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive advocacy and intervention. In many regions, women continue to face systemic barriers that hinder their access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, which perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality.
In third-world countries, these issues are exacerbated by socio-economic factors, cultural norms, and insufficient legal protections. For instance, the gender pay gap remains significant, with women earning approximately 23% less than men for similar work globally. Access to reproductive health services and education is also limited, with many women lacking the necessary resources to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures.
These issues are integral to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. This goal underscores the importance of eliminating discrimination, violence, and harmful practices against women, as well as promoting their active participation in leadership roles across all sectors
To address these critical disparities, CLIP is dedicated to implementing initiatives designed to empower women by improving financial security, advocating for reproductive rights, and delivering essential support services.
